this movie shows that since he is a “challenged” kid he is having a dream of these wild things and each one shows a different emotion in his head…

You all aren’t giving kids any credit. I have 3 kids and can tell you they are quite capable of taking the message from a film… they just do it in their own way… they do it in ways us grown ups can’t really comprehend anymore. Don’t think for a second a kid can’t ‘get’ the message of this film.

I doubt a kid that is 8 years old will understand the meaning of it..I don’t think they’ve been through much situations to really relate to the metaphors..I think all it can do is, maybe inspire kids to run away from home to make things “better”.

Not all 8 year old kids are the same. The character, Max, for example is about 8 and in the film has certainly had to endure some serious issues in his young life. Many kids will be able to relate to Max’s situation and maybe this film will make them feel better. Any kid that watches this should watch it with their parents and the parents should have a discussion with their kids about it.This film, just like the book, is EXCELLENT at helping parents engage in healthy convos with their kids
